Hello, I'm Avik, a CompSci undergrad with interests in Computer Internals and Software and Embedded Systems Engineering from India.
Let's be honest here, lately my country has come under poor light in the field of Open Source among other aspects in the tech industry. From superficial PRs instead of adding real value, only to earn swag and certificates to the shameful commoditisation of principled incentives like GSoC and the toxic culture of cult following of Course selling Gurus, these are aspects no true programmer likes.
More importantly, such events lead to a gross generalisation and a net negative persona of Indian programmers, taking away the genuine contributions from the Indian programming community to research and maintenance and development of critical technology in the world of computers.
This is what I wanna change. The reason why such negative aspects propagate is the lack of awareness, and more importantly, the lack of resources and guides towards such parts of Computer Science which promote a healthy culture of a thought for the greater good over an obsession over own's benefit. It's not wrong to be selfish, but that shouldn't come at a cost of subscribing to unproductive lazy avenues of cheap thrill. And ofcourse, this is not a problem limited to India, it holds true across the world.
I want CS No BS to become a small droplet in this vast ocean of knowledge of Core Computer Science and Engineering. As I continue exploring this field, I want to also have a portal where I can share what I learn so that fellow learners who want to get into this beautiful field may find some guidance through my articles. CS No BS is committed to be 100% Free and Open to all with no adverts and paywalled content.
While I genuinely believe that education must be free and open to all without un-aesthetic interruptions like banner ads, hosting information on the internet comes at a cost. Thus, I have setup a Patreon which you can access from the Navigation Bar up top with a lone monthly subscription of 2 USD. The only incentives from the subscription are a downloadable PDF of all my articles and a newsletter as I want to keep Patreon purely a medium of support for the folk who share the same belief as me of free and open education, irrespective of financial capability.
